I filled my radiator as much as I could (just making sure there are no preliminary leaks)~ is this brass fitting with the ball in it a vent for the coolant to bleed? or is it in the "vacuum" part of the manifold? I thought I could bleed the water/coolant, but it did nothing so I used the mechanical temp next to it, there are two more plugs in that same line up. I was looking to also incorporate my dash vacuum gauge and wound up using a T in the vacuum line to the vacuum advance as I could find no other port to tap.
    me of course;)

I'm such an boop some time, I thought sure that was a bleed for coolant! lol But that's great that I can put a thing for a vacuum line instead of between the dist and vacuum advance;)
    Thank you!

You can bleed coolant where the temperature sending unit is at on top of the intake

Gee, I blink and a week goes by! Finally got to the hood~ the rotisserie again paid off making the hood much easier to paint. Most of the "body work" was performed on stands, the transported to the rotisserie. The rotisserie will be used once again on the Jurassic build, so it was worth the effort in making it;)

It wasn't painted in this area, when I finished it, I rolled to this area to keep the kissing bugs from landing on it.

Hi! a little story;) I went to get tires last week at Discount, had an appointment(required) at 10:00 and the guy already had in stock what I wanted. He told me stay in my truck when there and someone will come out to me. Got there at 9:45 and thinking this was going to go quickly, I patiently waited while I saw cars/trucks going in and out with new tires. I called at 10:05 to remind whomsoever that I was in my truck~ "what kind of vehicle do you have?" Where's Augustine? I ask, "oh, he's not here today". me, "sigh:crazy::madwife:". He said just wait and someone will be out to get with me shortly. 10:20 I call again, grrr~ finally a young fella came out and asked what I'm here for? I explained again, I say I can back my truck up, unload my wheels and come back to get my mounted wheels with the new tires~ he says he has a bad back but someone will be with me shortly, but I say I'll be happy to unload them~ Can't do that he says. I sat on my tail gate for another 10minutes slightly fuming. I left.

I immediately went to a new place called Tirelink, the owner (Billy) was a sales rep for many years at Discount tires and opened up his own chain and there's two here in Houston/Spring. I told him my story, though they didn't have the tires on hand, I was happy to get the tires today from someone a little hungrier than Discount.

Discount called me this morning, I didn't catch the call, but listened to the voicemail~ "we're sorry and would like to get your business and discuss with what went wrong". I never called them back~ It's time to give my business to someone that needs the business.

I also installed the wiper motor/switch, just ordered arms n wipers. Also a tow bar is on the way! Tomorrow I'll work on the seats, and head rest speakers will be here soon, but grandkids will be here Thursday through Monday;)

[sarcasm on] Bummer, if only you were doing a good job on this build, I'd have hope for the Jurassic Jeep. [sarcasm off]

    That's B-E-A-U-tee-full.

Dne', Your Jeep looks amazing! Everything goes together really well. Too bad about Discount Tire. I've used them for as long as I can remember buying tires. I've usually had pretty good experiences. But I've also walked out of businesses before when I didn't receive what I considered an acceptable level of service. Glad you found someone who values your business, tires aren't cheap! By the way, I usually have my tires mounted blackwall out, but yours look really good. I might reconsider next time I buy tires.
Question. Did you seal the space between your windshield frame, the windshield molding, and the wiper cover? When I took my cover off to have the windshield replaced it had a lot of black goop sealant. I was wondering what to use to reseal it.

Thank you guys!! I'm pleased with how it's turning out, just anxious to hear the engine :watch:
Scott, as far as sealing goes, 1) between the windshield and frame, I didn't use any sealer there as it was a perfect seal as far as I'm concerned. As for the frame to cowl, the replacement seal is a good fit and it will never be lowered to the hood. Now for the wiper motor cover; it's really funky and don't see how it could ever not leak. Seeing how my jeep will never see rain~ I'll probably not do anything other than just bolt the cover on and call it a day;) If this didn't address your question, might rephrase it?
Brian, I expect the Jurassic jeep to be KILLER! ;)

I saw somewhere on here that someone installed a paper element in this type of air cleaner. I'd like to do that. I have yet to blast the air cleaner in fear of getting media in the mesh.
I was looking at other air cleaners on ebay, but this is rather a unique thing and should look nice when prettied up;)

I'm not terribly pleased with my spark plug wires, I may get the kind that I have to "fit", but in the meantime these will work.

I'm doing the same disk brake conversion and I'm not sure if it's an illusion due to the angle, but it does look at first glance to me like if the axle comes up far enough to hit the bump stop on the frame above it, that bracket for the transition between hard line and flex line could get crushed. I welded that bracket 3.75" inboard from the flange where Brennan's adapter bolts (so the bracket wouldn't be involved), but I ran the hard line on top of the axle to keep it out of the way of branches - and then redid it after thinking about just what would happen in the event of hitting the bump stop. Mind you, I don't know exactly what it would take to get to the point of making contact there, but I figure the bump stop is there for a reason.

Bummer about Discount Tire. We visited their shops all over the country while fulltime RVing and had nothing but exceptional customer service.

Those bugs are a mess. I was in Newton, TX for a couple of weeks and they are pretty annoying.

Thank you for checking in on my build~ :D, I got carried away with the Jurassic jeep I suppose , but I did finally finish the bumper strengthening and tow hitch on the '68. This morning I was going to give test pull with my truck and make sure it pulls ok. I found a muffler shop in Tomball to have the exhaust system installed, but the weather is crap and I'm kind of under the weather, (not covid), just feeling blah. I think I'm a little depressed with all the politics too.
Anyway, I thought sure we were going to have a sunny day after the front came through, but not and more rain in the forecast
I'll post ASAP when something good happens here;)

I think I'm depressed about the exhaust , they're going to ask me what I want, dual exhaust, single, routing, but that's their expertise, not mine. I don't know if I want dual exhaust:cry:

Also I hadn't bought a rear bumper yet, and don't know if the muffler shop needs it on there for clearance. I just haven't made up my mind for a rear bumper. The one that was on it was in really bad shape.
