Hydraulic Clutch

hey guys looking for some feedback on converting my cable clutch to hydrolic I have the hanging pedals in use and am looking for suggestions. Thks

 

My 1980 CJ5 Hydraulic Master and Slave cylinder has been working good for me.

 

I'm in the middle of installing hanging pedals and firewall mounted brake and clutch master cylinders in my '65 with a V6. You already have the pedals in the jeep? What motor?

Tim it’s a v6 Buick with a t 14 behind it

 

I used, (and heavily modified) CJ7 swing pedals. CJ7 drum/disc brake MC (or drum/drum if that's what you have), Speedway Motors 3/4" clutch MC, Novak hydraulic clutch retrofit kit for Buick V6, which includes a 3/4" push slave cylinder, mount and a longer push style throwout arm. The biggest pain is the necessity of pulling the motor to install the throw out arm. This is the 3rd jeep I have done this in and I highly recommend it. But it is a lot of work.

 

I converted to a cable from hydraulic. I have had 0 issues since then. What issues are you having with your cable setup?

 

I bought a new cable and when I change my oil I give the cable some drops of oil. No frays, hang ups or anything. I keep a spare cable in the Jeep but I have never used it.

I super like what PieLut did with the stock pedals. I stuck with the cable but added bellows to each end, allowing the cable to run in lubricant constantly. My cable clutch is very smooth, while not hydraulic smooth or soft... its quite an improvement over stock cable.

 

I used a set of YJ hanging pedals with the YJ stock clutch master and the stock slave cylinder for my SM465. It happens that the GM slave is very close in diameter to the Jeep master. I did have to cut, bend, and reweld the pedals to match the angled floor on my CJ5. For the hose, I used AN adapters and a custom AN-3 hose to deal with the metric fitting on the slave and the SAE fitting on the master.
