Has anyone had to replace the studs in a the turn signals on the front grill of an early CJ 5? Nuts froze and studs broke off of mounting plate.

BTDT- You can just drill them out & put some machine screws through them, the lens may not fit quite right depending on the screw head.

The annoying part was they were new. :(

Go To Classified, put in a WTB ad, you should be able to find some better ones for your project, Good Luck

Kiaser Willys has direct replacements for about $30.00. Look very original.

Also what I did. If you use hex drive flat head screws, everything fits fine.

What model year are we working with? CJ front signal lights changed around '62 or '63 from clear glass to amber plastic. The stud repair is similar, but the later style has the studs swaged into square holes. They punch out very easily, and a replacement screw can be tack welded back in. The earlier clear light is more difficult to to get the old stud out of.
