I just ordered a Esab fabricator yesterday. I have been getting a friend of mine to do most of my welding and using the old tombstone for the rest. Im pretty excited about getting it but also know I have a lot of practicing to do.

I feel as if I'm fashionably late but still in time:sneak:...Unless he changed his name and moved to Georgia that's someone else...

I don't agree that flux cored is a waste of money. Gas shield is much cleaner but anything more than a slight breeze can blow the shield gas away and your weld won't be worth 2 cents. They are generally only good for an inside shop type environment.

I have a Lincoln 220v MIG. I have used the 110 and think the portability is a good thing. Plug it in anywhere.
Go to your local community college and take a welding class. Tell them you have no interest in stick welding and would like to skip that.
Also on the internet "weldingtipsandtricks.com"is pretty helpful.

Glen is right about flux cored and welding outside.
The best I have used is "dual shield" Flux cored and gas. Weld anywhere, beautiful welds. Expensive.
