So I know the metal plug Warn used was for a trailer. I ordered one online and when i got it, it is a touch larger in diameter than the original plug. Does anyone have a source for the shorter length trailer plug that Warn used?

Not sure if there’s enough room for a deeper socket in the solenoid box. Things are kinda tight, assuming you’re working with an 8274.

Years ago my shop was broken into and I’ve of the things that was taken was my winch bag with my 8274 remote in it. I couldn’t find a replacement and Warn no longer supports the older stuff. I ended up buying a Harbor Freight wireless controller and I hard wired it in with a kill switch on the dash.

Tractor supply company has a nice quality remote for $35 bucks. More than what you spent on the plug but might be better in the long run. Can be hard wired into the 8274 box and mounted elseware. A friend did his car hauler winch that way

Well I ended up getting the matching receptacle for the plug I bought. It is much larger than the original. It does cover the "W" on the control box cover a bit more. I had to open up the original hole a bit more, but nothing outrageous. I did cut off about 1/2 inch of the housing that goes into the cover. It is now as long as the original one so it does not interfere inside the control box. I still need to test everything, but it took about 45 minutes to swap out the old for the new.

I bought the Hopkins plug for $5 off slamazon and verified it is indeed the same size as the original plug.
