Thanks, Brother. That's great to hear. Mine's a '82 , but it was rebuilt with the upgrades back in '95 . only 17K since then , buts shifts well & great around town ! I think it's 'cuz of the overdrive that they last so long. I am also happy of the point that I am the only CJ5 that I know of with an Automatic !

I’ve been looking around craigslist for used soft tops lately. I love my Meyers too but can’t help but feel that itch to take it off... but it parks outside all the time. It hardly gets anything new installed on it and $1k for a top is a tough pill for me to swallow.

Has anyone modified a newer model Jeep top to fit an early CJ? Can’t help but notice the abundance of CJ7/YJ and TJ tops for sale for cheap.

I got a Tiger top on my cj6 and its ok. It keeps me dry for the most part. I put a Supertop on my cj5, and I like it much better. All the features mentioned above are noticeable when you have one of each to compare with. Supertop all the way for me.

The later tops are too skinny up front to fit an early even if you cut the front off.

  5. My new super top came today. Got it on except for the doors. Looks like it's going to fit great
