    Gents

Was window shopping for batteries to accessorize with my new alternator and foumd that every size 24 AGM battery had the positive post on the inboard side when on a CJ5 tray. My recollection is it is originally outboard. Is that correct?

Is there any compelling reason to not get an off the shelf battery with positive on the inboard side? I'll be having cables custom made anyhow. Its no trouble to have a battery ordered so it really doesnt matter to me. Why does it matter at all?

years ago . it was normal to have a group 24 with pos on outside
now I would think pos terminal should be inside for safety reasons only

There is a 24 and a 24F. The only difference is the location of the (+) and (-). If you want the opposite orientation, get the 24F (or 24).

My CJ-6 and J10 take a type 24. My J20 needs a 24F, or else the (+) terminal shorts out on the hood brace. DAMHIK.

24F puts + inboard. For whatever reason all were 24F, no plain old 24.

That's just the store's failing. My local Walmart superstore has both in stock, FWIW.

Maybe I'll just go with what's in stock. I cant think of a good reason that would be a problem.

On a CJ, it should be fine, if the cables are long enough.
