Passenger Seat Mount On 70 Cj

I put the Summit seats in and noticed that the passenger seat sits about an inch or so higher. Seats are both angled / reclined at the same angle. I saw another CJ somewhere that had the slotted seat mounts that were separate pieces (2) in stead of a 1 piece cross bar like mine. That would make the seat lower. Is that appropriate for a 70 model? Are those available?

 

The two separate mounts were for earlier Jeeps. The seat design and brackets changed in the mid 60's.

 

Maybe the driver seat is missing the spacers?

 

On my ‘66 with Bestop lowback seats. I mounted directly to the frames and they are the same height. Wonder if your frames are different between drivers and passenger?
Were the old seats different heights?

 

The passenger seat mounting changed for the '66 model year. Up to that, the seats had coil springs an the passenger base had two long arms extending forward, ending in hinge pins. Small cast angled hinge bases bolts directly to the top of the tool box.
For '66, there was a bracket that bolted to the door opening and extended over the toolbox to the tunnel, a few inches above the toolbox. The new foam seats had short stubby hinges on the front lower frame that engaged in tabs on the horizontal bracket.
Most, if not all, the aftermarket seats have the foam too thick and too firm. The result is you sit up too high, and you sit "on" the seat rather than "in" the seat.

yep if frames are like my 71 . driver seat adjuster + spacer . passenger seat just bolts to frame
