Anyone know if anything goes in the small slots on the edge of this shroud? About to plate over the damaged mounting holes with a flange of aluminum strap.

I dont recall anything with my 73, but I have a unique way of putting mine back together. I work my way through the pile, remembering each thing goes. As I approach 50 you can imagine the urgency of completing this before my mind gets tired of storing unused memories. Then my Super Jeep becomes a "Would be awesome finished" add on Craigslust.

I've has success at repairing worse breaks than yours using 3M Panel Bond (#8115). Its expensive and requires a special dispensing gun, so I save up several projects before I get the kit out. I used wax paper and some masking tape to shape the repair area as the suff is semi-liquid/runny until it cures.
I used some large washers after the repair and all has been good.

I'll epoxy these plates and fill missing sections with more epoxy. Should be more than fine. Trimmed fender washers would have worked but I think this will look cleaner.
