One thing I learned in life is that Ford has a bazillion different bell housing bolt patterns....Henry has a sick sense of humor.I checked Novak,nothing...I'll check advance,thanks.....

A perspective: what is that old engine really worth? Having it doesnt increase its value. By the time your project is done the cost of the engine should not be the primary factor. What would a running 4.3L chevy cost? And with so many more adapter options. And higher value if you ever sell.

Ok, here is the only way I'm finding, without totally building something custom. This will get you a 5-spd!!

Mate your 3.0 to a World Class T5 from a mustang using the link below, mix and match parts from the WCT5 and a Jeep T5 for the output adapter to mate to a Dana 300 T-case. (y)

"There is no off-the-shelf adapter to mate 3.0l vulcan to a T5,
But you can build one: "...would you like a T-5 with that?"

You need a detachable bell housing that fits a 3.0l RWD, and that was only found on '86/'87 Aerostar vans with manual transmissions"

    Again,:watch:

Did they really give the name "Vulcan" to a 3L engine?

I jumped down that rabbit hole because I was curious if the Ranger's BW1354 transfer case used the same round bolt pattern as the New Process cases and the Dana 300. I'm still not totally convinced it's not, but I couldn't find any concrete evidence. I was curious if you could just swap the engine and transmission and bolt it to a D300.

I did find that you could get an Atlas t-case to bolt to it, if you want to drop a few grand on one of them. :D

    Wouldn't a T5 be too long in a CJ5?

No, not with the correct tailshaft adapter to dana 300.

They're 15 1/4" long from bell to t-case. As far as 5-spds go, it might be the shortest. And weakest. :) But when paired with parts from the Mustang WCT5, it's pretty stout.

85 mustang gt with a stock 302 “H.O.” Chewed up two T5’s in a matter of weeks. I have one in the garage if you want measurements from it. 4 speed top loader is going in soon

In 1985, Ford in their infinite wisdom, put the T5 transmission behind the 302 HO v8. The engine output exceeded the design specs of the transmission. Failure of the transmission was assured by design. The 3.0l v6 has quite a bit less torque and therefore the transmission should fair better..
