Which Carburetor For F134

    When BrianP rebuild my yf I got 16mpg.
    While it was gone, I got 14mpg out of a Holley 1940 for a small block Ford i6

    You probably know this already, but don't bore all the way through the throttle body when you machine it for the shaft bushings. Counter bore from the outside, leaving the material at the throttle bore intact. Otherwise, the throttle plate will leak at the shaft, the engine won't idle correctly and the carb will be impossible to adjust.

    I did not know that.

    Thats good advice. I was planning on sleeving the hole with a bronze bushing all the way. Do you thing that would be a problem?

    If you do that you have to press the bushings past the inner wall of the throttle, then machine the ends to match the radius of the bore. It can be done, but it's much simpler to leave the material next to the throttle plate alone.

    Shown is the 505 throttle for a 636. You're doing a YF. Use extra caution when boring the shallow side. I get the reamer close then use a gloved finger to make sure it doesn't go all the way through. Slice off the OUTSIDE excess with a Dremel.
