My A1 is pissing gear oil out near the rear drive shaft. I topped it off a few days ago (first time I touched it at all) & it runs out overnight.

At the differential/axle end of the driveshaft or up at the transfer case?

Either way, likely a bad/worn yoke seal. Be sure if you replace the seal to inspect the seal surface on the yoke. If galled up, you may need to replace the yoke too.

remember that when it stops leaking, its out of oil.

Yup. I’m gonna have to put a pan under her. I already have a leaking rear main seal that I have been living with. Maybe time to take the tub off again. ☹️. Busy project pictures to follow! Thank you for your insights!!!!

    Just pour it back in!

Fix the seal and maybe buy a new yoke where the seal ate into it, or you might get lucky and not have that issue, or drive the new seal in a bit further to miss the groove?

I bought 2 yoke seals & 2 felts from Kaiser willys. Should come any day. Looks pretty simple to pry it out & drive a new one in. (After cleaning)

It’s just a Jeep thing, if it’s not leaking that means there is no fluid left. :D

That seal is a bugger to get out. Had mine on a bench and still butchered it badly.

I’m going to try to get it out with my m38a1 on ramps. Hope it comes out easier than that. Seals come on Monday. Might pull it tonight. I will post some pics.

I don’t think it matters. I made this seal puller.

Make sure to put sealant on the splines.

Pulled the back of the transfer case yoke. Scrubbed off the grime with soap & water then drove out the old yoke seal with a 32mm socket. I didn’t see an old felt. Just a seal.
