1974 Cj 5 Dana 44 Axle Bearing Replacement

    My 74 were 6 bolt.
    I got the Omix-Ada replacement plates, this is one of the very few Omix items that are actually any good. They were $2.99 each and had all 6 holes and the plate was a few thousands thicker than the stock ones.

    Here is a another picture of the bearing orientation on the axle shaft. I staged the picture to show just the bearing orientation therefore you will notice I didn't include the retainer lock ring, seal, retainer plate.

    Allan,
    I used the Spicer bearings too although I sourced the parts separately as opposed to buying the kit, this is what I used.

    Did yours say timkin on the bearings, although my kits say spicer on the box they are timkin

    I didn't write it down in my notes but I believe they indeed were Timken.
    If you enlarge the picture in post #16 you can just barely make out the name Timken on the bearing.
