Bullnose No More W/ 2.8 Cummins Crate Engine

A couple of quick pics to share a friends build of a 72 Commando that got an early nose swap and is getting a new Cummins 2.8 crate motor installed.

 

Like a Dauntless with wheels!

 

Nice job on adding the 3". Love the Detroit Diesel/ Dauntless green.

 

I'm not wild about diesels but I love the look of your Commando!

 

What is involved in changing from the bullnose tot he nice style front end? Any more pics from the engine swap?

 

What Transmission and gears are behind that mill?

 

Thanks for the like, but not mine, belongs to a friend and I have just been consulting here and there on the build and thought you guys would like it.

 

NV3550 from a TJ with a Dana 300 behind it. Factory 3.73 gears in the axles.

 

They added 3" to the early style Jeepster fenders and hood. Being they are giving it air conditioning, an intercooler and larger radiator, they put the Jeepster wings on a late CJ grill shell.

If it was a bullnose, it's a '72 or '73.

 

How are they hooking up the Power brakes?

 

Correct, it is a '72. Updated the main post.

 

The Cummins R2.8 crate motor comes with a vacuum pump that runs off of the cam.

 

Can you post pictures of the front clip extensions and hood extension

pic of the fender extensions, they used the early fenders for the extra drop at the tail end. Also cut the rear quarters behind the tire to follow the lines of the new bumper. they cut a section out of a second early hood to lengthen for the longer nose
