Are setup bearings the same for the regular and flanged 44? Anyone have a set I could borrow? I am re gearing my Flanged 44 and adding a E-locker. I've done one rear before and own the puller, it's just been a long time. Looking for pointers and tricks and tips.

Though I've never set up a flanged D44, I expect the carrier bearings would be the same as a tapered version. Check to see if the numbers are the same.

They are different between the two axles.

They are bigger bearing on the flanged 44 vs the tapered 44.

Flanged vs Tapered axle shafts has nothing to do with the size of the carrier bearings.
There is is a difference between D44 with 30 spline shafts or 19/10 spline shafts.

I suggest you take old used bearings in decent shape and put a die grinder to them...

My neighbor used a brake wheel cylinder hone to make his. I recently bought bearings for a dana 27 carrier .The cone was 10 dollars so not to bad if you don't have used bearings.I borrowed his setup bearings that he used on the dana 30 ,same number. mike
