Off To Get My 78 D30 Tomorrow

    off to West Seattle tomorrow ( to pick up a dana 30):), was at Olympic 4x4 today got me a descent early passenger side fender (for a 60 cj5) for 50 bucks

    Thats the free model 20 that comes with the dana 30 - its like buying ginsu knives...

    stick one end in the ground attach a pulley to the hub sticking out and drive the yolk with an electric motor and you have the start of a ski lift...

    Use it to take up space on your next concrete pour, might save a half yard of concrete expense.

    lucky I got mine for half that, but gear ratio is 2.72 :(

    The 20 can be a good Axle for light Jeep and not too large of tire. You need to do certain things to them to make them reliable but if it was free I would consider it as an option. They have a good size ring gear.

    That's about all they got going for them. If you smile at the housing, they smile back, the bearings are small and the axles are two piece. Not worth any effort in my opinion even if it's free. More often than not you paint yourself into a corner eventually with something like that and can't get back out of it without losing money.

    I said you have do some work to them. A friend of set one up and ran 40s on for years. So if that is what you have they can work. Yea given choise there others better.
