How To Utilize Space Under Driver's Seat

Rejeep, That is kind of what I had in mind but it look like there is a lot of space that still could be used. RustNeverJeeps?, I thought of that but I would like to utilize as much space under the driver seat as possible and small firearm safes don't seem to fit. I did some more research and found this from Bestop Underseat Driver Side Lockbox | Bestop . Right idea wrong size. Will contact them to see if they make one for a 1974 CJ5.

 

Likely, then, your best bet is to head to a metal shop and have a fabricator make you *precisely* what you want.

 

Since it looks like there is not a COTS item that will meet my needs and I have neither the talent (I know when I am in over my head) nor the equipment to make one, is it possible for someone to suggest a "fabricator" in the Colorado Springs area that might be able to help me?

 

What’s the goal? A locker for gear or just a security drawer?

There isn’t a lot of room under there to make a lockable gear compartment worth anything.
Get an ammo can and bolt it sideways.

I figure there is approximately 1900 cubic inches of storage space available under that seat. I do not know how many times I wished for some additional LOCKABLE storage space. What goes in there? Camera, wallet (you can't have that on you when you skinny dip), lady friend's purse, the M79 (broken down of course), and anything that needs to be secured and will not fit in the locked tool box under the passenger seat or the lockable 20 mm ammo can center console. The best advice would be to direct me to someone who could help make this a reality!
