77 Cj5 Steering

    Does anyone have experience with AGR steering boxes? Auto store rebuilds have too much play.

    What store rebuilds are sloppy? I have a NAPA PS box in my yet-undriven project. I will not like for it to be sloppy.

    You are certain the slop isn't from another component? Lots of parts can contribute to slop, and each source is additive.

    Loose/cracked box mounting puzzle (notorious)
    Drag link joints (possible)
    Steering shaft upper joint (probable)
    Steering shaft lower joint (near certain)
    Pitman arm slop (unlikely)

    Everything is new, carquest is where i got box, but i think they all deal in the same rebuilders, ran it through a top notch line up shop, the diagnoses was play in box....Im looking for opinions on AGR. Thanks Chilly.

    I put an AGR box on my Jimmy and have been quite happy with it. I do wish I had bought the newer style variable ratio box rather than the original style fixed ratio.
