Actually the endplay is about .003. I found a better way to measure it with calipers.

FYI....Depending on your firewall & steering column & steering shaft going forward location in relationship to your drivers side cylinder head lower corner , the head bolts can sometimes be a little tough to reach in and properly torque...........

That's wild - I've never seen one in any of the other motors I've torn down and worked on.

Maybe I've been getting the 'special' ones, or my memory is failing, like lots of other things (y) I even looked in the crate where I have one apart now and there is no tray there

Radiator problems now. Need to re core or new.
The radiator core I have is about 17.5 in by 17.5 in and is about 1.75 in thick. I'm assuming this is the size that came with my 1968 cj5 V6 225 odd fire. Can anyone confirm this assumption.

I confirmed it by looking at some pictures. Now waiting for a Champion aluminum 2 row direct replacement radiator. Mocked up a cardboard fan shroud this morning. Radiator shop wanted 450 to re-core plus it had some lower tank damage. New Champion was 169.00 free shipping.

Got my motor back from machine shop Aug 23, and FINALLY fired it up today. It stared up quickly and ran good while I broke in cam, 20 min at 2000 rpm. Good oil pressure, 15 psi at idle after break in. Water temp was 175 during run. No leaks or issues.
Thank you all for your support during my build. Got some follow up tasks to do, but nothing to demanding.
