Nice. The best advice I can give is to work as hard and as fast as you can and if your lucky it will be done just about the same time you loose motivation :)

Rolling chassis. Next step is to check ratio in front and rear diff to make sure they match.

Cold weather is back. Time to get back to work on Ole Scrap Iron. Got distracted this summer on a kayak trailer build(I'll try to post pics in trailer forum) and quite a bit of fishing.

    Update:
Checked diff ratios. Both are 3.73
Welded cracks on front frame horns (I'm not a very good welder, but I'm a world renowned grinder)
Got front & rear bumpers/hitch off. Not having any luck finding 4" channel at scrap yard to make new front bumper.

Large basement and a really small Jeep project. I got the room to let this thing sit for years.... but thanks though.

While you have it apart, I would recommend either finding a dana 20 transfer case or a offset rear diff. That drive line angle is not going to work for too long at high speed.

I’m planning on Dana 20 when I get to the drive train.

This is my 14 year old cleaning up the leaf springs. If it makes him want to learn more about working with tools, that’s what this project is all about.

FD Engine 1, awesome project! I got me a 62 cj5 and currently am in the same boat. It is mainly, as yours a project to share with my 14 years old son. I want to teach him some mechanical skills as well as appreciation for hard work and the pride of achieving something with your hands and some sweat. Mine has a tub in way worst condition than yours and is as disassembled as yours. Keep on! It is not about the initial momentum, but constance and enjoyment of the journey.
Now to the negative people: in the few months I have been coming to this forum for help and guidance and I have encountered both aplenty, this is the first time I have seen people putting other fellow member down and mocking his efforts, specially something geared towards bonding with your kid. I guess, if we have nothing nice to say, stay quiet until asked for advice on the matter. Sorry FD, there is a lot of good helping people here, don't get discouraged.
