    great job!

  2. I got the overdrive installed! What a difference! 2200rpm at 50mph. I had to make a shifter and bracket. I used a stainless steel bracket and pivot pin. This thing can really roll along now!

  5. Thanks! Ive been driving the jeep everyday. I can keep up with traffic!! rolls right along quiet and smooth. I played with my gps app more to track my speed. 54 mph is 2250 rpm.

  6. Shout out to Owain Jones at Malone tuning for hooking me up with a sweet tune and dynamic Idle for the jeep! This will bump my hp to 110, and tq to 188. If I go with bigger injector nozzles I could go up to 135/235 but this should be more than enough. The new fuel/boost map will make it run smoother and more efficiently too! The dynamic Idle is a cool feature too. It raises the idle to 1100 and gradually lowers to 924 rpm as the coolant heats up. This helps the engine warm up faster and smooths out cold starts. The flashzilla is a handy little loader that allows your tuner to email you new maps/tunes you can upload via OBD II port. If you have a tdi jetta you need one!

Very cool build and nice execution. Anyone else find irony in a vehicle designed out of necessity to help fight the Germans in WW2 being powered by a German engine? I guess every time you step on the "gas", you are making the German do the work, so there is that.

100% German descent btw, just pointing out the playful irony...it's all gut.

I think it’s ironic that a Jeep of this vintage has OBD port and a tuner setting on the seat. Just plain cool!

  10. Everyone brings this up....but no one picks on the kubota guys.... (Made in Japan) Haha! Also, my engine was made in mexico. lol

Well in that case...when you step on the "gas", remember the Alamo!
