I plan on building a collar that will go around the E-Brake Cane when its pulled out so the E-Brake can not be released. Since I have modern 11" rear brakes with the internal E-Brakes that would keep the rear wheels from turning. I also have a Battery disconnect switch and will have an electric fuel pump shut off hidden then I will have hidden hood locks built into my Windshield stand offs. So no hood access no battery no fuel no roll Plus my Willys will have an insulated LOCKING aluminum hard top. I might even put a motion detector alarm in it.

Twice. But it wasn't very old at the time. Both times in HS in the late 70s.

Take the rotor out and put it in your pocket! I think I said it in a earlier thread!

My Jeep is in my garage at the cabin, the private club I belong to has no crime. Canada Creek Ranch is a private club in Northern Lower Michigan, we have 11,000 acers of hunting land and 2,000 acers developed. The people that live there full time keep an eye on each other, we are old and make sure that everyone is OK. I put a kill switch through my parking break mounting bracket so I can turn off the coil when I am at the store or restaurant. I always turn off the coil when my Jeep has been sitting for a while and crank it to build up oil pressure before I start it, so it has two purposes.

my jeep came with "The Club" I was never a fan. It gave me an idea though and I used it on my chevy 4x while it was parked at trail heads sometimes for more than a week. I bought an On-Guard Rottweiler and looped it around the clutch pedal twisted it a couple times with a loop or two going over the steering column and then through the steering wheel. It is very stiff and not super flexible, but I figred a way to wrangle it on making it impossible to depress the clutch and turn the steering wheel. This after parking the truck and pointing the wheels in a manner that it would be difficult to do anything with it. A guy would have to have a assortment of tools an time to do anything. There are also lesser cables that are armored that would be sufficient now days.
I have also seen loops welded to clutch arm and corresponding loop to column that would accept a large padlock, I don't like that because welds can be broken with a large screwdriver and flexing.
Another thing the keys were hid within 10' of truck and my buddy or 4 would know it's location, this if something would happen there was a way for others to gain access, even if it was a random hiker with an emergency needing to get to town.

It was a bracket for something or other that I had laying around, it's just a piece of steel with a 90* bend in it. I imagine a trip to the hardware store would turn up something similar.
The hole in the core support is the factory slot for the hood catch on a 1970. It's maybe a couple inches long and barely wide enough for that bracket to slide through.

The only time I had a problem with my old CJ5 with someone getting into it, I was parked in front of a discount store to catch some 22 ammo on sale. I parked and left it in reverse and set the parking brake as there a an incline to the parking lot. I was heading back out of the store and some woman comes up to me wanting to know if that was my blue Jeep out there.

I said yep, and she just starts screaming at me about how they parked in front of it nose to nose and my Jeep suddenly rolled forward into the the Jeep and how I'd better not go anywhere because they'd already called the cops. I walk out to look and sure enough there's a brand new Buick with it's nose stuffed under my front bumper. There's an older woman there who's the first ones mom and now I have two raising hell at me.

The police show up and start getting everyone's stories. I just tell them that I parked it and it was in reverse with the parking brake set when I left. The officer checks and it's in neutral with the brake off. At this point, I'm wondering just how much my insurance is going to go up and up walks this elderly gentleman who tells the officer, that he'd seen the whole thing. The two women were going too fast and drove their car into my Jeep. They get out all excited and then the younger one gets into my Jeep and takes it out of gear and releases the brake. I could have kissed that old guy.

At this point the older woman starts crying about how her husband is going to kill her for banging up her new car. The officer asks if I would back the Jeep off the car and when I do, the rubber nose piece pops back out to normal although there's a lot of paint scraped off of it. I look under the bumper of my Jeep and no apparent damage. The cops start writing those two some tickets and let me go. Never did find out how that turned out in court.

The vast majority of people manage to get through life being reasonably honest but stupid morons like that deserve whatever they get.

Good thing you didn't have a dog in the Jeep... The woman probably would have bit it.

I included a heavy duty fuse holder on the main ignition wire from the battery so the fuse can be pulled out if leaving mine anywhere for a length of time.

Any of these solutions work for a casual thief only I guess, but it's better than nothing.

Agreed, my son has a beautiful 1968 Nova that he is afraid to leave anywhere for very long. He has a couple of different theft prevention devices. I suppose if someone wanted it bad enough they could tow it away.
