???real Golden Eagle????

I have looked at a CJ5 that has been for sale near me in NC. The seller claims that this is a factory Golden Eagle package. How can I verify this? Should the title state " Golden Eagle"? I am concerned that the seller just added some stickers and is asking an outrageous price for a regular Jeep.

 

No real 100% way to verify if it was only thing would be to look at the firewall data tag to see the trim level. Even then will be nothing on title and when I worked at Jeep Dealership during late 70's & early 80's we applied many Golden Eagle & Renegade Decal Packages at the dealership as a lot of customers wanted them

 

Right - there's no indicator on the title or on the VIN tag that is specific to Golden Eagle. If I wanted a Golden Eagle, I would make sure it matches the appearance in the sales literature. You have to decide if the appearance is worth a premium to you. If the appearance items are gone, there's no difference between it and any other Jeep of the same year. Same with the Renegade after 1973 ... what year is it?

I don't think the Golden Eagle was thought of yet in 75. But I have been wrong before, just ask my wife.

 

No Golden Eagles in '75 1st year should be 1977

 

Thanks for the info. This must be an impostor because the title does say 1975. I am going to pass on this one.

 

but a 75 has good running gear . steering brakes trans/transfer case/axles
so what's the asking price

 

Just checked back with the seller. I was mistaken it is a 1977. He is asking $18,500. Says the least he will take is $18,000. Looks good but definitely not interested especially since anyone can make a Golden Eagle with a few hundred dollars worth of stickers. It is on Craigslist, North Carolina, Charlotte. (maiden nc)

 

If it's the one I just looked at one of the things that point to it being a Golden Eagle is it does have the tach and the clock in the dash other than that not much else to go on. It's not a bad looking CJ but missing a lot of being stock.

 

Did all Golden Eagles have Levi seats? If so the trim tag should show that.
