I don't think that is factory. I've taken apart many CJ's and I've never seen one with the dash panel welded on.

Mine is welded on. This was discussed awhile back. I believe the conclusion was if it had a hard top from the factory the dash was welded. If no top then the dash was bolted. I’m sure someone with more knowledge will chime in.

That's also my recollection from previous discussions.

So how do I reattach the dash moving forward? Hardware recommendations?
There was some tedious work accessing the back of the dash, but I did it! Lots of Schiff falling in the eyeballs removing old wiring.
The wire harness I bought is a bit much for the New jeep. I'm only doing lights, blinkers, brake lights and ignition/instrument cluster properly working and lit up. LOTS of future space for radio, hair dryer plug in etc.
One curious wtf was a clip hardwired in and clipped to the brake pressure switcho_O

Got all the blinkers/lights/ignition/headlight switch removed/New installed. New pressure switch on the master cylinder for the brakes. Tonight I want to get the reverse light operational.

All right...i sold a back seat for an older cj to a guy that is putting it into a model A. New gas tank/cap/sending unit is on order! Selling parts to buy parts! I'm loving it!

    updates:

    1. gas tank and sending unit arrived. I will post a pic as soon as it is painted. I also ordered new floor pans. thinking that I am going to weld them in before I install the gas tank. no point putting it all together just to take it back out.
I CAN however make the strap and all the necessary items when the time comes so it is a rather quick process.

    2. I'm thinking to roll on bed liner the inside of the jeep. I like it a lot on my cj. its easy to apply, kinda fool proof, and its also durable.

    3. I forgot to order the grommet for the hole in the body to center the tank neck....and also the gas cap. I assumed the tank would have come with a cap. but, when you assume...you know the rest of the old saying.

Removed the plow stuff...pump, mounts, etc. More cutting than nut removal (again)

floor pans should arrive tomorrow. then I will begin welding in the new ones. fun times. ive done big ugly welds, like on my sap boiler, but never dainty ones in sheet metal. ive watched a billion youtube videos over the weekend of people welding in floor pans, so that makes me an expert already, right?

Well, so it begins. I brought the jeep up to my house garage for the fabrication over the weekend. 40 degrees in there, vs whatever my pole shed is. It's been 10 below for quite a few days now...i have a heater so I'll be getting that going too.
