I missed the price mismatch. I think he is not very good at posting ads.

FWIW I read the questions asked about this last one on Lowes' website. Manufacturer is Campbell Hausfeld and duty cycle is 50%. Not saying bad or good just noting about manufacturer. Duty cycle probably no issue unless you need it to run continuously. I would find out about the maximum length of run time recommended.

Edit: read more questions and newer dated answers say 75% duty cycle.

Go with a 60-80 gallon tank and 2 stage compressor. If you need 220 in the garage and can't do it let me know. We can do that when I'm over that way. Do it once. You'll be glad you did
I picked up a tank with seized compressor and no motor for free. Traded some labor to a friend who had a new 5hp 220/240 motor. I bought a 2 stage compressor from Harbor Fright on sale and used an additional 20% coupon. I had to buy belt and electrical switch. Had the rest of the fittings laying around. I have the shutoff set for 130psi. I probably have about $125 total in it. It's been working great for 5 years.
I traded my 36 gallon 110 volt oil less Noisy compressor to my son for one of those cheap pancake units that a haul to the daughters houses for the daddy-do projects. 3 daughters whose husbands are great guys but can barely tell the difference between a screw drive with a staight line and the one with a pointy cross on the end

Go get it.............Bring your pickup I'll bet $500 or less will work and probably still under warranty unless it fell off the truck!

I read this somewhere on here " Do it once, do it right".....I Think it was jpf2a.....

I'll add one thing, my old man always said " Think 20 years down the road"

That has saved my behind a few times........:)

Thanks Skip. I can run all the romex working backwards, but I don't like sticking my hand in the panel. You can do that part.

Definitely a tough decision and I'll bet you're contemplating right now on what to do.

That Kobalt would probably do you well, and for a long time.

I'll do that. Run 10 gauge. Yes you can get by with 12, but 10 is better. Working in the panel is the easy part

    Ok... Back on the fence.

I was looking at my Harbor Freight flyer and they list 2 60gl 5hp two stage air compressors. Both deliver 15.8 CFM at 90psi, but only is about 100rpm higher.

Both are $800...$640 after 20% off... No road trip, time & gas.

This is where I am considering putting it, right under the overhang. This area is right outside of the garage. I would of course close it in.

    Who manufacturers the HF compressors?

I imagine you're correct. ;) For that price though it must have reasonably good quality.

BTW, thanks for this thread. Now every website I look at, the ads are for air compressors.

I guess there could be worse things.

    From a review:
"Contrary to what you may have heard, It is NOT entirely of Chinese manufacture. The motor is a 5HP Century motor, made right here in the good ole USA, the compressor is made in Italy, and the tank, like most other major compressor manufacturers, is made in China."
    But this too:
"The tank is certified and presumably manufactured by Morganton in the USA"
    And finally:
"The unit is built at US General of Rock Hill, SC, its compressor comes from Italy, the motor is a Century out of Tipp City, OH, and I'm pretty sure the 170PSI-rated tank is made in the USA"
Correction...After reading some reviews...One is a single stage (listed as a 2 stage) 3 cylinder, but the other is a 2 stage.

This is the one I would consider.
