Thinking about getting rid of the old spring hinges and going simple, anyone done this?.. my commando is kinda beat up from crawling so i'm not gonna take it anywhere near original.. Also, gonna dump the original dash in favor of other stuff, anyone looking for something like that or the vapor cannister?...

  2. I need a good fuel gauge from an original dash cluster for Peppy. Prefer the whole thing actually.

Not sure whats working on it, none of it was hooked up when i got it so if you like i could send a pic of the dash..

Running CJ/Jeepster hinges on the one currently in my avatar. Makes it easier when doing stuff like changing spark plugs or anything near the firewall.

Pretty much. I just used longer bolts and washers on the hood portion. Some guys make wedges for the cowl side to make up for the slight curvature for the cowl compared to the hood. Wasn't too worried about that on mine cause it's just a beater.

was it major surgery or half a day with a 6 pack?

More like an hour and a bit, most of that trying to find long enough bolts.
