Jeep Success Today!

I'm normally asking for help on this forum; rarely do I have much to contribute. But today was a great day and I wanted to share it. I've been working for a year getting my engine rebuilt, and for a couple months getting it put back together and troubleshooting some pesky electrical issues. Today, it finally, finally started up and ran very well.

Here's my contribution: I couldn't find any write-ups on putting a Pertronix electronic conversion kit in an IAY 4012 distributor, which is what I have. Pertronix customer service told me the only option was to send it in to them for a $300 custom conversion. I thought the Pertronix 1548 looked like it should fit, so I ordered one. Sure enough, it dropped right in. Easy installation, and it fired right up. I can't speak for its durability yet, but it gets an A for installation. Boy it sure was good to hear that engine purr again!

Maybe Pertronix will comp you some goodies or cover part of your conversion cost if you show them a new application to add to their catalog? Just sayin....
