I have a Dana 30 big brake option on my cj5. I am replacing the bearing and seals. Is the bearing supposed to fit all the on or does it stop about an inch away. If so what size i the inside Diameter

If you have disc brake spindles, the inside bearing has a smaller ID then the outside bearing. Drum brake spindles use the same bearing inside and outside.

agree that drum spindles use the same inner/outer bearings.

wouldn't the disc bearings be just the opposite of what you stated? the inner bearing rides on the thickest part of the spindle (larger diameter) , and the outer bearing rides at the narrowest part of the spindle (smaller diameter).

So yes the ID (inside diameter) of the bearing is smaller because the spindle is bigger on the inside.

Do I have the wrong bearings. Should the bearing fit all the way on.I have 2 sizes on that stops(picture) and the other is smaller and does not go that far on. this is the inside bearing.

The outer bearings are the same from 42 to 86. The inner bearing is the same from 77 to 86. Easy to check the number on the bearing.

the bearing pictured is too large to be the outer bearing - it is deeper on the spindle than the machined surface for the outer bearing. it appears that it needs to sit a little further in, although it should be installed in the hub along with the inner seal first (and properly packed with grease).

Does anybody know what the outer bearing number is. I have the inner number off the bearing lm102949. I can not find the outer bearing that I removed
