Ripped one of my mufflers off saturday and the other is pretty well smashed. I've been running some Super Turbo style mufflers which really didn't seem to quiet it down much. So for you folks with 225's and fender headers, what are you using for mufflers? I'd prefer very quiet. The Flowmaster 40's I'm guessing would be quite loud. Any better Ideas?

The $ sink is outfitted with a pair of what we used to refer to as corvair turbo mufflers, they are smallish turbo style, appear to be generic muffler shop stock, real quiet, suprisingly so, welded onto the end of my headers.

  3. Chuck: Flowmasters are excellent mufflers. Just don't get the loud ones. 50's may be a better idea. I've got them on mine, but I don't know what series they are as the PO put them on. But they are quiet.

Flowmasters don't smash as easy either. They're pretty beefy. $$ though. I think the best way to quiet it down is run full exaust out the rear - but that can be a pain to route.

  6. Bob: I wish I know what series my Flowmasters are as they are nice and quiet. But I also have the outlets turned in towards the center of the Jeep instead of outside towards your ear. :)

I ordered up a pair of Flowmaster 40 Delta Flows, supposed to be a fair amount quiter than the standard 40's. Havn't decided if I'll use one or both yet, going to try to route the exhaust to the back this time.
