I have a fuse box power comes from it to the switch then to the blower motor the switch has two posts. power in power out. my switch is a push pull rotary switch .pushed in is off pulled out is on turn all the way right is low center is medium and left is hi this is the stock switch as far as I know for my 61

 

Got the windshield glass in this week. PITA. Had to do some touch-up paint on the frame. I can complete that part of the project tomorrow. Welded nuts for the bumper bolts onto the frame horns and test fit the bumper. It's going to powder coating on Monday. Took apart the seats to get ready for upholstery, only one mouse nest in the drivers seat. Frames are derusted and painted. Restored my original license plates. Good enough for the 10ft test and CHP. Pushed the jeep out into the sunshine so I could paint indoors, too cold to paint outside. Drove it back into the shop under its own power!! Put a moving blanket on the gas tank and off I went - 20ft.

 

20 feet without pushing is a huge step. Congratulations!

 

Windshield frame is done. Vacuum wiper works and parks itself when it's turned off.

 

Drivers seat would be done if the hardware store wasn't closed for Easter.

 

Finished the upholstery and mounted the seats tonight. Discovered the new brake master cylinder I installed 10 years ago is leaking. Not sure why. Will replace.

 

Factory ordered by the PO. My research shows this was a factory option. Seats 3 if the one in the middle is skinny and doesn't mind bruised knees.

 

Had that same 60/40 combo in my 1965 CJ , but both seats were the same height.

Yours had the bucket on the drivers side. I would like that more.

 

Got the bumper back from the powder coater today and installed. Getting sooo close. Hopefully will have new brake master cylinder to install this weekend. That and some gear lube in the diffs and a quick check of other important fluids and it's ready for a shakedown cruise.

 

That first picture was a little deceiving .........In this picture you can more clearly see the 60% seat is on the drivers side much like yours and the seat over the toolbox was the flip up 40% version.......the difference was my seat back heights were the same height , I was not aware that they made two different heights in different years???? and I know these were original and still nicely covered in the original blue fabric / vinyl factory covers...........I wish I would have saved them they would be worth a pretty penny now.

Colorado , I suspect that's where we mostly hunted.....

 

My drivers seat is actually a reworked rear seat, thus the height difference. Seems like it was the practice for this combo in '57 era.

 

Got home from work and and finished the seat installation. Installed a new speedometer cable. Changed all of the gear lube in trans and transfer case. Filled the diffs (hadn't done that since rebuild). Lubed all the grease zircs. Drained the water out of the radiator and block and refilled with anti-freeze mix. Since that made it road ready... I went for a drive!!! 3 miles around the neighborhood, up to 40 mph. Drove straight stopped straight. Wife went with me. Her first question was will the brakes work? Next step seat belts.

 

Master Cylinder didn't show up on the brown truck, looks like Monday. Finished up a punch list of small items. Washed and installed the seat belts. Had some leaks after the test drive, so investigated and tightened up some stuff, t/c pan, oil pan etc... possibly a leak from the rear seal on the t/c (which started this whle rebuild) will investigate more. Retorqued the head bolts and exhaust manifold bolts. The turn signal was loose on it's bracket, so tapped it out to next size and tightened it up, self cancels reliably now. Got to get it insured and registered this week.

 

Looks a lot better than when I saw it. Very nice work. My youngest daughter vetoed any option of painting my Jeep your color. I showed her the overspray on the rotisserie and she said "nope".

This build is coming to a finish. Replaced the master cylinder and bled the brakes. Jeep is registered and insured, just met my self imposed deadline of May 1st. Went to the gas station for my first fill-up ( no leaks fron the fuel sender, whew!). Went home and picked up the wife, picked up and took pizza to my daughter's to start planning a concrete project and stopped by some friends house to visit. Nice drive. One last detail was to put together my key ring. The advertising scraper/coin holder is from the original owner. He taught me my trade as an optician and helped me get started when I opened my wholesale optical lab. This entire project has been dedicated to him, he passed in 2005. I contacted a couple of his old friends that used to ride around with him in this jeep. Going to surprise them next weekend with a visit with the restored jeep.
