Adding Brake To Tc3-c

    Has anyone ever tried to add a parking brake to one of these civilian models? I know the military ones had actual drums and shoes. I'm really looking for an option to not have to chase wheel blocks.

    Not sure but, it's possible that factory cj5 brake assemblies would bolt on. The spindles and bearings on the trailers are the same as a Dana27 front axle. Not sure about how the backing plates could or would mount to the axle flange. Might bolt on. Then rig cables and a lever to set and release the brake manually.

    Not a Bantam but I've added parking brakes to a trailer. You can get the drums with whatever bolt pattern you want from Dexter. 60's -70's era Ford 10" brake shoes, smalparts & levers will work You'll have to mod the Dexter backing plates for the cables & I had to custom fab the spreader bars myself. I used a parking brake handle from a VW bug but the military style ones are stock catalog items ~ $50 if you want to go "authentic"
