    Okay, I'll play. What the heck is this glass jar next to the oil filter? I've always thought it was a home-made oil separator. The dark stuff in the jar is oil.

    My first question is why is the oil filter mounted over there instead of on the engine?

    Focker That's a terrible idea...What time? Staff Member

    That's what I want to know...Almost wondering if it's a radiator overflow? If so, and if the jar is clear (not painted)... There might be a problem.

    My CJ had a Hi-Lo pump mounted to it for snow plowing, where the filter should be.

    The hose goes to the engine...off the top of my head I can't remember exactly where at this point, though. I will check when I get home and snap a pic.

    That might be a clue. Overflow tank for hydraulic fluid from the plow?

    Or maybe the oil return galleys in the head were clogged, and rather than fix it, they just gave it a place to drain into?
    :D
    Gosh, let's hope not.

    Upper Cylinder Lubricator.

    Attached to manifold vacuum to vaporize and ingest the oil.

    Hi guys;

    I have a 1969 cj5 with this leaf spring shackle... two identical formed plates sandwich the leaf spring eye and frame mounting bracket with two seperate bolts also centering two rubber bushings. I've removed the bushings and I'm attempting to replace them.

    The problem is, the seller's parts catalogue 1969 suspension diagram doesn't match my shackle arangement, rather they show a u-bolt holding the shackle together for 1969. And they don't offer a dimensional description of the bushings they are selling. Since the bushing have different p/n's for various groups of jeep manufacturing years, I only can use vehicle year of manufacture to source them.

    Can anyone identify which year these shackles were introduced? I was able to press out the metal sleeved rubber bushings in the leaf springs with a size 5/8 socket.

    Also, they offer different shackle bushing kits with 4, 6 and 8 sets of bushings and metal center sleeves. Some call out bushings different for the leaf eyes vs. the shackles. Can anyone suggest which is likely correct?

    Thanks.

    The catalog your looking at must be showing just the old stuff..........what you show there is pretty basic for about 1965 through 1971............find a more modern catalog or supplier.
