I finally returned to the vintage world. I picked this up a couple days ago. 1948 CJ2A. Complete, runs very well. I pulled the plow off and made a simple bumper. The frame survived the plow quite well. Last pic is how it is today.

How about now? I *hate* that it's painted "army green". It'll get some paint in the spring...Probably red.

Yep. I guess. Looks like the spare was mounted on the driver side...

Is that why that other bracket is on the passenger side? Most pics I see have it on the driver side. What is that?

Top bow storage bracket? Is there another one that used to be on the rear?

Perfect, thanks for fixing the pics.

Looks solid and always nice when they run good too.

Any other plans aside from paint?

Welcome back Patrick. But I don't think you never really ever left. :) By the way, great looking Jeep.

They don't all match, and only one is a Jeep wheel. I may use them yet. They have retreads, with lots of tread, but badly cracked. One so bad it needs a tube to hold air. I'm up in the air as far as wheels and tires. It's all stock, and very complete. Everything works. The L-head runs very nicely.

    Re: New Jeep!

When I decided to sell my CJ5 and buy the TJ, my plan was to buy a flat fender in a few years. The TJ is "almost done" the way I want it, and I love it. This flatty fell into my lap, and I happened to have the means to buy it. I've spent the last three days servicing it and straightening things out with it, and enjoying the heck out of having an old Jeep to mess with again. I've been running the wheels off of it. Unfortunately, it's getting cold out and I can't afford a top just yet so it'll go into the garage and I'll keep working on it..

    Re: New Jeep!

1948 was the only year that some of the CJs came out with the spare on the drivers side, some of the top bow parts mounted on the pass side. Sort of a mirror image of the regular CJ2As.
    Welcome back, nice looking Jeep.
Yes, you are missing one of the brackets, check out the CJ2A page.
