Looks great. Any reason you can’t mount it even lower?

I would mount it lower.... but I need room for my dog to ride. :D

Got the shelf mounted up today. The roll cage brackets are some cheap aluminum jobs from ebay. I just need to pull it out, paint and install some rubber edge trim. This shelf is something that will be utilized a a half dozen times a year so it bolts in and out quickly.

Milled off the rear brackets to match the angle of the cage.

I spent the last couple hours sanding and de-burring all of the dimples. I was concerned that it would have a cheese grater effect on the dog and eventually on my forearms..... :censored:
Like I said... couple hours later. I love using these little flap wheels in a die grinder. They easily wear into the profile that you are sanding. All edges are now pillow soft. Time to paint.

While the paint was drying on the shelf, I started on a mount for a bluetooth speaker. My wife won this little Bose unit a while back. She never used it so I commandeered for the jeep.

There is still some cleanup to do. But these pics should give you an idea of how it will be. I do not know yet how I will attach the bracket to the cage. Maybe Velcro cable straps.
I am thinking of using the Velcro straps to retain the speaker as well.

I painted the shelf last night. Semi gloss black so the scratches and wear wont be as noticeable....... I walked inside to put things away and when I walked back out a breeze had blown a boat load of cottonwood cotton pollen down the alleyway and straight onto the wet paint...... :censored: Whats a guy to do.... just add more paint I guess. It will get scratched up soon enough.

I feel your pain, I ran a tail gate with cat paw prints for years. Very nice work, Ron

    Thanks for the compliments guys.
This project is now complete! I picked up the neoprene rubber trim from McMaster-Carr
Glued it on with 3M trim adhesive..... still trying to get that off my fingers....
All this work into a simple shelf..... My enthusiasm to build one this fancy for Steve has gone out the window..... Steve might get one with a hole in the middle to drain water and a couple holes on the sides for bungees. :schooled:

Steve won't need a hole in the bottom for it to drain....it'll drain out the top....

The jeep is looking great. Think about this, I’ve seen rigs where the top snaps to the front hoop. Then you can ride trails with the windshield down. I’m going to try adding snaps to mine soon after I get the hoop installed.

Send it to me. I have a dumpster on the job I am at. I will throw it away for you. Just make a new one and paint it with the door closed:beer::beer::beer:

    Nice try......

Is it bad that I thought..... Wonder if Steve's shelf should be built beefier so it could be an integrated part of the roll cage.....:rofl:
