I picked up a Poulan Micro chainsaw to live in the jeep. I did not want it inside the jeep or hanging out in the open, so the logical place for me was to put it under the hood. Here are a couple pics of the start of the mount. When I get a chance I will get some pictures of the mounting location and saw.
The left side is notched for the handle to locate the saws position.


A few holes to lighten it up.


A while back I picked up a set of dimple dies from TMR customs. Good excuse to use them here.

Just read your whole thread. Don't know how I missed it in the past. I really like your tire carrier. Its a shame that no one seems to be making them commercially for those of us who weld like poop. Very nice work. Can't wait to see how the chainsaw fits in the jeep. We are always finding trees across the trails up by Medicine Lake.

 

I added some corner gussets to keep the edges from flexing when the straps are tight.



I had to rework the grill support rod for more room. Here is the rough test fit with bailing wire...





There is more room than the picture shows. I ordered a bar scabbard so I can stop cutting my self and destroying everything with the chain

 

Very cool. I've built a few mounts for dirt bikes, but never considered one for a jeep. Nice execution. Any concerns with heat?

Edit: I'm not really sure what those concerns would be, I'm just thinking out loud I guess.

Edit #2: You may want to consider shortening a good quality ratchet strap to hold it in place, rather than a bungee. At least on my bike, I have to hold the saw so tight it distorts all the plastics, and it still rubs to the point of wear.

 

I would make sure the bar oil doesn't leak on a hot exhaust manifold... But, yeah, that's awesome!

 

I am still working on the tie downs. I really don't like the bungees, but I haven't found a ratchet strap small enough yet that looks strong enough.
As far as heat goes, my headers are wrapped, I can put my hands on them with the engine hot.

 

That is a concern I have. I am working on a rubber/ plastic liner with just in case.

I picked away at the project a little more. This is still in the mock up phase. I am going to add a second triangular bracket on the bottom.
I was able to locate the saw far enough forward that I don't have to worry about the bar oil dripping on the headers.
The plan is to put some thin rubber like from an inter tube in between the saw mount and the inner fender.

 

I ditched the rubber bungees for some over center buckles rated at 330lbs. I have some rubber edge trim to cover all the sharp parts.
Finally a final test fit with the new straps.

It's not a huge saw, but it will make short work of camp firewood or the occasional log across the road. I could cut up to a 24" tree with two opposing passes or a larger tree if I cut wedges out of opposite sides.
Next I will be making a mount for a quart of pre mixed gas.
