Anyone have a part number for an electric fuel pump that'll work on a F-134 with the stock YF carb?

    PSI of output???

2.5 to 3.75 psi is factory spec. Don't know if you can get electric that low.

    Mr. Gasket pump 42S.
That is what I have been using for the last 4 years.
Put a replaceable in-line fuel filter between the pump and the tank, and another between the pump and the carb.

I have been considering an electric pump to prime the system on start up only. Currently I have to squirt gas in the carb to start after the Jeep sits for a couple of days. Is it possible to run the electric pump for start up and then turn it off and use the engine driven pump. Not sure how all the plumbing will need to be run-then again it may be a bad idea and I should just go to the electric. I found a pump on e-Bay for 37.99 shipped.

Sounds like treating the symptoms instead of the cause. I suggest looking for clues to what is causing that condition, and curing it, rather than covering it up with more layers of technical complexity.

WHY do you have to squirt/prime the carb? A normal well-tuned F-head does not require that, and a second pump may not cure it..

Choke adjustment? Accelerator pump function? Float setting? Fuel pump condition? Etc.

I agree with PeteL...after sitting for a couple days, you should be able to pump the gas a couple times, set the choke, and start right up.
Even if it's been sitting for a long time and fuel has evaporated out of the carb, the pump should re-fill the fuel bowl after cranking for a little bit.

I'm guessing shot valves in the fuel pump allowing drain back. Proper fix is to rebuild the fuel pump, kits are available from Then & Now Automotive.

    Thanks for the replies.

The carburetor is fresh rebuild, the fuel pump is new. I found a leak in the line at a connection and repaired it. The leak was so small the fuel evaporated before it dripped. The engine is fresh rebuild. Jeep is basically new rebuilt completely. I had a problem with a non-vented gas cap and replaced that. Jeep runs great. I just passed the one thousand mile mark. I cannot figure where the gas is going, unless there is another leak I have not found. I think there is another hose to pipe connection with hose clamps that could be leaking. I will check that.

After setting for a few days it will start if I run the starter for longer than I like to. I haven't timed it but I guess about 10 to 15 seconds at the most. Some of the time with the choke pulled it will fire immediately then quit until I run the starter a little more. :?

"The carburetor is fresh rebuild, the fuel pump is new."

Not necessarily proof that they are good... maybe the opposite.

One thing to remember: Place the pump (electric or electronic) below or at the same level as the gas tank.
Mounting it inside the frame rail channel is a good idea. Puts it in a location where it cannot be yanked off by what ever you are driving through.

Awesome info here! Especially the link to Then and Now, thanks Howard! The fuel pump for my F134 has been a back-burner worry of mine, unsure what I should use or look for, and what's even available.

I re-built mine using their stuff- they did initially send me the wrong diaphragm for the vacuum side but I got the proper one out of them without trouble.

There are other sources for kits out there but they aren't as complete.

I'll probably just send them my pump and let them do it, probably better for me not to coon-finger delicate things such as that.

Fuel pumps are not very difficult.

Oh, I'm sure they're not, as long as I can ID it accurately to get the right parts. I think I may actually have two of them, maybe three. But when the time comes, at least I have a wonderful parts source! And the info for an electric pump!

I finally got the electric fuel pump installed. I put it in the frame under the tank and installed all new hard and soft line. I removed the mechanical fuel pump and made a cover plate to replace it. Works great. Jeep can sit for days turn the key on wait a few seconds and it starts right up.

I put a Carter P60504 in my 67 a couple of weeks ago. Seems to be working fine. Comes with a filter on the input side.

A Carter P60504 works for me works on my '67. Max 4.0 PSI.

With the Carter P60504 do you have to run a psi regulator?
