This shows color chip>>>Paint Chips 1968 Kaiser Jeep 1st - 5th code numbers --not a Tux (Edit: see post 46); the Sequential Serial Number (6th - 11th) = September 1962

The color on the firewall and tool box is more pinkish........Indian ceramic looks more red on the web site...

Looks, to me, like somebody was attempting a Tux imitation with chrome and paint choice.

This could be a MKll or MKlll Tux. It wasn't until the MKlV that Tuxes got their 8322 prefix. The earlier Willys-built Tuxes got the same serial numbers as any CJ5. I have seen several MKlll versions with the hood badges, but this one, and another several years ago had no evidence of badges, and these badgeless ones are both'62s. To the best of my knowlege, all the Willys (pre-'64) Tuxes were Indian Ceramic only. This one looks like some old overspray in the firewall area, and two shades are evident. Even the headlight buckets got sprayed. Except for the Chevy engine and larger rims, this (posts 41 & 42) looks like it likely is a legitamate Tuxedo Park. Any more detail of this vehicle?

Thanks for the corrective info., Donny ---you got me digging--here's one quote from Jeep-CJ.com

"In 1961 and continuing till 1963 a limited production run of CJ5 and CJ6s were produced under the name of Tuxedo Park. These offered a lot, a chrome hood badge, Chrome Bumper and Bumperettes, Front 60/40 split seating, chrome hood hinges and mirror, special hub caps, and white sidewall tires. These are rare to find today and production numbers are hard to verify."

Then there is a Serial Number 57548 150420 for a suppose to be 1963 (which doesn't jive with the dating of September 1962 for the Jeep # 57548 152638 of post #42) in this link>>>1963 Jeep CJ 5 Tuxedo Park III 99% Original. Including the tires. factory title for sale: photos, technical specifications, description

My dad purchased it in the mid 60s. I drove it to high school in the early 70s. It was last lic in 1999 and has been sitting in a field since. It always had the chrome bumpers and lic plate light----I am sure they came from the factory. Just figured it was before the phrase or model of Tux was coined. I remember it as a pinkish red.....Dad had it painted bright red. Thought it was cool when dad put a V8 in it....which is the old front mount style. Now not so much.....

I believe it's a real tuxedo. If you remember it always having the chrome bumpers and the the license plate bracket, that sells it for me. Can't imagine anyone trying to fake a Tuxedo back then.

Never heard of a Mk II. Mark III....yes. I'd like to hear more about the II but, we may be getting off topic with that thought.

Great thread thanks for all the info.

I'm wondering about the original color of my 66 Tuxedo Park Mark IV, and what options I have when I get to refurbishing the Tub in terms of keeping the colors original. The data plate behind the battery is long gone...My '66 Tux Mark IV seems to have been some shade of Gold (not yellow), then it has had some Presidential Red parts (hood) added, and then primered and then rattle can black (yuck).

The '64 and '65 Tuxes with the F134/column shift had only 4 specific colors; Presidential Red, White Cap, Sierra Blue, and Sylvan green.
Once the V6 engines were introduced for '66, then any color offered for the CJ5/6 was fair game.
I'm familiar with the gold original to your Jeep, but am not home right now to look up the color name and code.

My list I have compiled from the Parts Manual, and is pretty specific to the '64-'65 Tuxes with the F134 and column shift. Many of the parts are specific to the column shift parts, though it also includes the two-stage leaf springs and 10" brakes. There are a lot of small parts that make up some of the components like the license light.
