Don't think so. Pretty sure some companies offered them as an option by that time, but probably not Jeep for the CJs. They were mandated on all vehicles within the next few years though, like 67-68ish?

No, Not OEM for a 65.
Having said that, IF you have the threaded switch hole in the top left of the corner of top your transmission or shifter top then you MUST hook that up for back up lights for state inspection.
The assumption there is that you HAVE state safety inspections.

Depends on your state, I would say. In NH I was allowed a manual toggle switch as long as it had a warning light.

My 67 does have factory backup lights. Did Kaiser use them with the T86 but not the T90 in 67?

No backup lights or holes from same. No wiring either. I have a T-86. IIRC my build date is Oct 66?

I don't think that any CJ T90s had a reverse light switch. Not too hard to fab one up, though.

Mmm. I believe automatic back-up lights were mandated by the DOT after 1968-ish, and Jeep sold CJs with the F134/T90 through 1971. So they must have had something to work the lights. Anybody here have a '69-70-71 with the F134?

You may be right, Tim. But have never seen one with any fitting. The retro fit is simple:

    Yep.
Any of the late T90 towers will have a removable plug for the switch application.
The extra benefit is the lever/lever throw is longer and keeps the 2nd gear pop out gremlin at bay as well.
I had one of the late towers on my 2A with the switch function.

JPFLAT2A - that's god to know. I'll look around for a late T90 cover with shifter and forks. Then I just need to locate a switch. I'll try Border Parts, they have a lot of older Jeep stuff.

My T90-C definitely does not have a switch and to tell you the truth I have never once seen a T90 with one. I have owned a few CJs that were later than 69. I have a T90C from my 1971 CJ5 (T90C + F134) in the garage and I just checked, no switch and no place to put one with out machine something in.

Wenaha any details on where you got that bracket - that does seem like an easy answer. I would love to have reverse lights on my Jeep
