cover question

Does anyone have a good suggestion for a protective cover? my 60 cj5 sits under my carport so I really need something to keep the dust and heavy pollen off the jeep. rain shouldn't be an issue I only take out out when the weather is nice.

how about a cheap boat cover?

 

I suggest something NOT like the nice soft covers I had - which the mice ate big holes in.

 

I have a regular car cover for the CJ-6. Works fine.

I secure it with some extra bungies around the front bumper to keep it from flapping. The firs year it flapped enough that the side mirror bolt wore a hole through the cover - be sure and fold in the side mirrors, and be aware of any spots where strong winds could rub away the fabric against any sharp edges.

 

I have used both the standard and premium covers from O'Reilly Auto Parts. They are pretty generic. I had my Tux parked outside for about 8 months when I first bought my CJ6. The standard came apart pretty quick. I bought the premium and it did very well. Everything stayed dry. The underside of the cover was designed not to mess up the paint. It was in direct sun all day and did not fade or come apart. Didn't have any mouse problems but that surely could be a consideration based on where you live. I still have the cover in a box in the attic. Under a car port this might be an inexpensive option to see how it works out.

I also used that cover to cover up the 5 Power Wheels I collected for a while. I am now down to two and not as concerned about keeping them dry. They sure are fun...for the grandkids, I mean.

 

My paint isn't perfect but what I did was buy an old, actual canvas tarp possibly old military and throw it over my jeep. Always stays dry and it's heavy enough it almost always stays in place without tying or securing in any way. Even in high winds around 30 mph. Above 30 it still stays on jeep and has never blown off up to 70 mph winds. I liked it so well I bought a canvas tent section at surplus store to cover my M100.

 

Did you ever find a decent solution?
