    Hello forum,
I have been in the process of a frame off resto ony '67 CJ6. Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond my control, I will have to put a tarp over it for a few months before I can complete it. My concern is the engine. Before starting my resto I had the compression checked and all was good. I changed the timing belt and packed the oil pump to help it prime when ready to start. Gave it a basic tune up and new oil but have not started it since. It's been 5 months so far and it maybe another 4 months before I can get back to it.
Will the engine be alright just sitting up like that? Will it hurt anything, or is there something I need to do while it's in storage?

    Thanks in advance

Keep it covered up good and me thinks all will be fine.

Millions of jeeps lived seasonal lives, stored all winter. Many still do.

Likely will be fine if kept dry. If you are concerned, pull the plugs and give each cylinder a shot of WD40, turn over a couple of times and reinstall plugs.

Biggest problem I have is mice getting into everyplace and making nests, eating the seats, etc.

Those rodents also love wiring. Throw a couple dryer sheets inside the cab and engine bay. Why dryer sheets? I have no idea, but for some bizarre reason they keep away the mice.

Yep. I do that, and mothballs, and cedar chips. But the D-Con bait still gets eaten!

My J10 came to me with hardware cloth over the air cleaner snorkel. Apparently some rodents found it a comfortable lair.

Yep. I had to put hardware cloth over the air box intake on the JK. It made the perfect mouse house. I have no problems with rodents being in the engine bay but only if the are steel, iron, and aluminum species.

Ditto on my YJ airbox. Someone should inform the Jeep design team.

I found disconnecting the battery helped with the pack rat problem. Evidently the are drawn to the wire that has charge potential. Another trick is fill a tennis ball with moth balls.

I would drain the carb also.
