That is correct and is what my front hubs had on them originally, but I too am cheap and had safety wire, pliers and the jig for drilling bolt heads already. Plus my FF converted rear had constant issues with shaking bolts loose and breaking them off so since I was already safety wiring the rear I decided to do the front at the same time.

I have seen guys use the stage8 retention method and it works fine..........I have also safety wired mine using allen socket bolts and never had issues and also have seen guys use studs which I think is a good Idea and may do the next time around.

Well I had horrible luck with jeep 6 bolt warn locking hubs, with a lock rite in the front with 33's and all no throttle !! I broke the stock bolts then went to grade 5bolts then grade 8studs snapped them then G5 studs to allow for shock then tried studs with those bendable locking tangs then red locktight studs, ALWAYS got loose ,next on the list was safety wire but finally blew a hub like the one pictured .... and so I changed my set up to used Ford D30 Bronco hubs /spindles internally splined locking hubs and those suckers are stout.no more breakage....and bigger bearings

    good luck

I've used Warn hubs for over 25 years here in CO and around Moab for the last 15 years or so.
I have never broken one or had one loosten up on me.

How are you guys screwing them up?

    nickmil In mothballs.

I used bolts and had constant issues. Went to studs threadlocked in the bearing hub and lock nuts and no more issues. That was 18 or so years ago.

The Stage 8 system is very nice, and also very spendy . I think using studs and lock nuts is a good way to go.
