Mustang Radiator for CJ2A

    Am installing a Mustang radiator in a CJ2A flatfender. Does anyone know the correct radiator part number from Spectra or any other manufacturer that provides the best fit. I have a Spectra B130 that is 16.9 in wide, a little narrow, but Spectra also shows a B340 that is 20.25 inches wide ,almost the identical width of a CJ2A. Both radiators are 16.3 inches wide. Is this the one most of you are using?

    B130 fits a 1966 Mustang 4.7L and B340 fits a 1968 Mustang all V-8s

    Anybody have ideas about this please? Close to this point like John. I purchased the narrow one, but the extra cooling can't be a bad thing if it will work. Thanks

    I am picking up The 20.25 inch wide radiator this afternoon, I will post how the fit is. On my original post, I should have stated that both radiators are 16.3 inches tall instead of 16.3 inches wide

    I do not want to go with aluminum nor do I wish to begin the debate over aluminum vs copper/brass again. The last time radiator size was discussed, it became a lengthy discussion of aluminum vs copper/brass.

    I picked up the CU340 this afternoon. The good news is it fits the grille opening perfectly. The bad news is it is too wide if used with saginaw steering. the saginaw u-joint is in the way of the bottom tank of theradiator. Also the bottom outlet would have to be relocated toward the passenger side to clear the stock fan blades.

    It might work if you were using the old ross steering or could lower the saginaw mounting position. Mine is installed, welded, etc so forth and I am not about to relocate it. Looks like I will have to go to my sheet metal mounts that will line the passenger side of the radiator perfectly with the passenger side of the grille opening, and relocate the brackets about 4 inches inside of the factory opening.

    Perhaps I never should have doubted the forum, but I though I could find a better solution.

    Appears Spectra B130 is the way to go

    Baja - I have not used the Mustang Radiator in the fatties, but I have had custom Radiators made from Potts in town. They can also be a good source for sizing as if they are not busy will sit down and go through a book with you. The amount of knowledge off the head is amazing too.

    In the ancient times, before we converted to a throw away society, people could buy parts to rebuild just about any part on a car. I have two v6 radiators with questionable cores. But I have found no vendors for radiator cores for these radiators. Recoring a radiator is not rocket surgery, but, a replacement core has been impossible to find so far. I suppose the big manufacturers stop making radiator cores that are not high volume sellers. Any one know of a source for replacement cores? I'll get in touch with the places listed in this thread.
