Accessory fuse block

I'm currently in the process of cleaning up the wiring in the CJ and have come to the conclusion that its time for an accessory fuse block. This would be for things like 12V outlet, CB, dome light, and of course for future items. Would something like this work, with the 12V feed coming from the ACC post on the ignition switch or should a relay with a line to the battery be used to power the block instead?

Yes, that should work. There may be cheaper alternatives, but that is a nice one. I'm not sure I would feed it from the accessory switch, depending one what you are connecting to this accessory block you may overload the wiring in the ignition switch.

Do you want all these to only be powered when the ACC post is on? if you do then a relay is a good idea, otherwise I'd just hook to to the battery.

Bussmann 15300 series. Compact, water tight, available in a number of bussing (or un-bussed) configerations and use standard 280 series Delphi terminals, either mini or micro relays and ATM style fuses. And relatively cheap.

I have an un-bussed 20 slot for my main fuse panel and another un-bussed block for 5 relays and 10 fuses installed in my 3B.

While Bussmann sells brackets for these blocks, I like to keep the wiring enclosed as much as possible. This base was made from some 70's vintage alluminum data logger enclosures.

After doing some more research, I have decided to go with the Blue Sea Systems block with the negative bus. Its a bit simpler than the Bussmann and I don't need to buy any other components related to the actual fuse block. I'll use a relay when wiring up the feed for the block and will put a circuit breaker on the feed line as well :)

my 'tool time' thoughts would be a cool feature of a 'depth sounder' ala 'Binford 7000'...
