What did you do about the brace that goes along the top and side of the body cowl? Did you have to modify the top of the ammo box?

Nice job on the ammo box. I made mine out of aluminum sheet and pop rivets. It goes almost all the way to the firewall, and I braced it off the firewall. It holds a lot of stuff, and locks, just to keep my stuff safe. I have never had it get wet inside, yet. I keep my Registration and Insurance papers in an O ring sealed snap lock plastic boat storage box, in my tool box, most people don't know there is a tool box. Good Luck

IDK about the ammo box but I used the steam table tray. I had to bang it with a hammer just where you are talking about. Not much...just a few whacks.

I did the ammo box as well, and I had to cut a slot in the upper right for clearance.

It looks like the ice cube bin is tapered?

  7. When I did the ammo box I didn' have to modify it for any firewall braces. I just screwed the box in on the dash lip and cut a slit in the lower corner of the box for the door Catch to pass through

slightly,i cut the lip off the edge had to trim a little length to clear the heater box on the 74 and screwed it in, the slight taper lets water drain out if it gets wet, I still put the documents in a ziploc bag.

Ojgrsoi, if you have a chance can you post the measurements of the tray so I can find it?
    Thanks!

Man, I am sorry. I sold that CJ6 about 6 years ago and sold the extra steam trays shortly after that. I think if you view the photo and compare it to your glove box you can estimate the size. It is a standard food service steam tray pan.

You can try this one: (6" deep, 12.x" wide, 7" high)

    OR

you may have to go to a buffet with your Stanley tape.[IMG]
