Just wondering if a set of bestop lowback cj5 seats from 76+ cj5 will work in a 66 ? i know some mods to the stock seat brackets are going to be nessesary but will it work? has anyone else used the newer seats in an olderf cj5?

    Don't know why not.
My seats come from who-knows-what. Hi-backs.

You may have to build your own seat rails and mounts. The rails on mine are mounted on angle iron that has a whole bunch of evenly spaced holes in it that I ended up enlarging one set of holes to match the mounting studs on the bottom of the rails for fitment. That was the drivers side. Passenger side fit pretty well onto the hinges on the tool box under the seat, so were easier to install.

I used a set of the generic rugged ridge low back seats. the drivers bolted right up , but I had to do some drilling to match up the passenger bracket. My only issue is that the seats are so thick that I can barely fit under the steering wheel. I would like to find some thinner cushions like the older military seats. This is on a 68.

I have a 66' CJ 5 and I put a brand new set of seats from military hummer in it and they are great. I bought these seats from military surplus for $20.00 a pair. We made some custom frames and used the existing Jeep mounts.

Well I got the seats in and they are great . I was wondering though, is the drivers seat supposed to sit lower than the pass side seat?. the drivers seat in mine sits about 1 1/2 " lower than the pass side am missing a spacer or something beteen the seat and the mount.
