Stripped lug nut

I went to take the lug nuts off of my bantam trailer today and i didnt realize one side was left handed threds and i stripped one of the lug nuts. Do any of you have an idea how to get the lug nut off? Any help would be awesome, thank you

 

i just had the same thing happen to my cj3b! i stripped mine with an impact gun though . try using either a 6 point socket or go metric, use the size down, hammer it on good and use a small breaker bar, it will go.

 

i'm not familiar with the bantam trailers, but is the stud spinning or actual lug nut?

if its lug nut, might try some heat, then depending on how stripped the nut is would depend on which tool. Such as vice grips.
If I recall you can also add heat and candle wax?, or pb blaster.
Then replace the lug nut.

If its the stud spinning, well not sure what I could tell you.

 

they make twist sockets that you hammer on stripped bolts . Mine are blue point but i think they might even have cheap ones at harbor freight. They do come in handy. The twist goes the wrong way for left hand threads but theyd probrobly still work . But yea If you have some impact sockets just hammer one on. gotta be more gentle hammering on a regular socket because thats usually what splits them

 

just use a craftsman or snap-on socket, use metric smaller then you need, hammer it on good, get a breaker bar and it will turn right off, you dont need any fancy tools and if it breaks then craftsman and snap-on are lifetime guaranteed and you just get a new one.

 

x2 on the nut splitter. I assume the threads on the inside of the nut and the outside of the stud are now bad and you'll have to replace the stud. Disclaimer - I've never used a nut splitter so my advice may not be worth much! I'm not even sure they make nut splitters that big. Perhaps drilling it out would be another option - start by flattening the end of the stud with a grinder or file, then center punch, then use a small bit and work your way up to larger drill bits until the nut is outta there. I've cut lug nuts off studs with an oxy-acetylene torch, with very little damage to the stud.
