ok time to fess up . been sitting on this for a few weeks . after letting Project Hanta go to Dummy after all the work of negotiating the price down to a great deal .Christian GAVE(thank you sir!) me exactly what I wanted the frame and tub (thats all) to his red 6 that he recently parted out .It was not as straight as it once was but I fixed that with a few hrs work .but there is alot of rust showing and it was getting in my way of a clear vision .So,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Rough day yesterday on the 6 , I started out I was going to separate the 6 section ,,,,,,,looks like a lot of work there are a lot of spot welds ,(I was surprised) ,,,got fed up and decided it’s a trail rig who cares what it looks like ……….so I started cutting out the rusty spots , till I got to the windshield to cowl section that joint is rusted really bad once I broke the paint , so now back to cutting it up again .sdcj6/Mpc and some friends here suggested to pull the whole side off the 6 and separate it at the lower door and the wraparound corner .This is a great idea since those panels are reasonably straight and rust free !!! I would be using MY 5 tub front and back with the 6 sides and floor extension. ......This leaves a lot less body work since I have hd corners to cover the welds and I plan on running steel rockers all the way up to the door opening. Then all the wiring and OBA /OBW/ stuff and stay in my front tub and I don't have to move anything.Body problems done....I HAVE A PLAN .

Now the next brain problem is the frame , use the 6 frame and box it and add new 7 perches and cut off all my add ons to transfer or cut my 5 frame fix everything /box it and add the 20” to that . then the welded bumpers /F and R suspension/steering/ shock hoops/rear tank are already done .that sounds a lot faster/easier.but unsure of adding to the middle of a frame seams like it would be trouble and asking for potential frame cracks . comments ? pics on the way

Sounds like a good plan for the tub. That will save a bunch of time. Tough call on the frame. For me my MB frame is pretty hammered so it didn't make sense to try to stretch it. Take a good look at the CJ6 frame before you decide to use it. Mine had a pretty good twist in it that I didn't notice until later.

Maybe stretch your frame for now and keep the 6 frame as a back up just in case? You have an onboard welder if you ever had a crack show up while you're on the trail.

I would say to use the 6 frame. Reason being is because you could do ALL your perches, bumpers and anything else that needs to be added to the frame like your 5 has while it is seperated from the tub. Plus starting with a solid frame (meaning no added center sections) and boxing it sounds like it would be stronger then stretching your 5 frame. Just my thoughts of course and will be looking forward to watching the new sway grow!

yes going to use the 6 frame now and box it
don't like the weak link of adding to the middle of the frame that has had some major repairs before

He's still looking for his "crackin" dealer. Sometimes crackin' is harder to come by than "a round to it".

my 5 is still alive ,just getting stuff ready .
Swamp is the bomb ,I ran it about 10 years ago, off camber, ledges and fun . It can only have gotten worse with all the big tired rigs now .

it's only about 6/7 hrs for me ,,,,,,,I will have to think about that

whole frt bulkhead/frt. floor off from the middle of the door opening ,tool box un spot welded (in good condition ) , just need to break the bolts off of the frame .

there is a ton of rust dust all over the trailer floor .

Just put all those rust flakes into a blender with some bondo to make a nice paste in order to re-assemble
