I am wondering if there is rebuild kit for a rear pto on a CJ-2A? Not really sure if it needs one but I wanna give it to my Dad and I don't want him to have any problems.

I have not heard or read of a source for PTO rebuild kits. I wish there were such a thing. Not much really wears out that cant be made, like gaskets, bushings and such. Except for major parts, they are simple and rugged worm gear drive.
I would think the bad problem comes when something breaks. There were many mfgs of winches for old Jeeps. ( Tulsa, Braden, Koenig to name a few)
Mine has a Braden adapter but the winch has "Allstate"in cast raised lettering. PO said it came off a Dodge Army weapons carrier. It has a mil spec tag riveted on the side.
Is it working? leaking? making funny noises? The adapter usually leaks like a typical early transfer case. They have a motorcycle chain on two sprockets.

If it is a rear drive only unit, Spicer 18H, then it's just the bearings that go.
There really isn't much to them. I've had quite a few of them, Bill

Well I'll just check out the bearings and put a new seal on and call it good. It seemed to work fine on my CJ-2A. Made some whining but thats prolly just the bearings.

I just split the case halves of the PTO and replaced the chain (#50) due to slop and bought the two bearings from the local bearing house, made my own gasket, fill'd 'er up and tried it out.
