    Just like you have it in the picture. Bevel out. Grease to all. Won't hurt anything.

    I concur about taking the brass dial apart. There is no way to clean behind it without. My experience is the same and the beveled O-ring needs replacing to keep water and muck out. It's probably cracked in several places. At least every one was that I took apart. But it's up to you.

    Does anyone have any advice on re-staking the screw? Is it as simple as center punching the screw head at it’s outside edge where it joins the surrounding metal? Do you dremel a small groove in the screw first?

    I just restaked the original spot with a slightly bigger punch. If you look close, you can see the deformed aluminum to see that it staked.
