Just popped my Jeep cherry

    Just got it home last night, flat towed it 50 miles in the rain with my friend's F-250 without a hiccup. Woke up early this morning for its glamor shots :)

    First thing's first, I need a battery. Was thinking about an Optima yellow top, but that might be overkill. Also, they have some warnings about checking hood clearance and needing a bottom lowering adapter or something? But it looks like enough clearance to me. Or should I just get a cheap Everstart at Wally world for now?

    Once I get a battery in it, I'll start going through some tune-up procedures to try and get it started.

    An Optima will fit fine under the hood with no mods. Have a red top in the Daughter's '70. The heater controls mounted under the dash are stock.

    Looks like a heckuva start there!

    Yeah, hopefully it looks great enough to get the engine running this weekend. Also, I'm having a hard time finding out info on the oil bath filters. Were they all originally equipped with one, and mine has been replaced with a paper filter, or was there some sort of option?

    the only mod I had to do to install the T14 in place of the T86aa was shorten the rear drive shaft 5/8" and lengthen the front the same amount.

    Do you also have a PTO driveshaft? I figured that would need to be changed as well, and if I can do the T-90 in a T-86 case, I won't have to mess with any of them, and it'll at least look stock from the outside.

    Im jealous of the bed, Konig Steel Works offered those back years ago. I think they made 2 lengths yours would be the shorter. Great start ou have, should be a fun project

    You mean that's not just some custom fab job? Nice. Yeah, now that I've actually found all the parts I want to replace before I try to start it, I might be able to get that done. That dipstick was a pain to find, but at least now I know it has some oil in it still, although it's in dire need of a change.

    Since I'm changing the spark plugs, any good upper cylinder lube I could spray in while they're out?

    Thanks, that's awesome. Anyone recognize the spotlight now? That's apparently broke and I'm wondering if it's salvageable at all.
